Project based upon the 'Theatrum Crudelitatum' by Richard Verstegan (aka Richard Rowlands). Verstegan was a Catholic Anglo-Dutch antiquarian, goldsmith and book publisher. His book attempted to record, in gruesome detail, the cruelty, torture and murder of Catholic martyrs in Europe.
